Indian television and film actor Aparshakti Khurana got talking about the Ram-Lakshman bond that he has with his brother,  Ayushmann Khurrana. Both of them were born and raised in Chandigarh and started their career with TV presenting, then with reality shows and now they are actors. Where as Ayushmann has tasted a lot of success as the protagonist, Aparshakti plays a supporting role essentially.

He discussed inequality in his recent interview, and stated that he is happy for his brother because the latter is the one who is more successful. He also said that the second Ayushmann makes him feel inferior is when their relationship will wither away. On Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Aparshakti opened up about their relationship and said that as long as they can sit and eat together, they are fine.

When asked if comparing them has become an issue he quickly responded, “Not at all, not in the least, not at all, never, 200% never. First of all, I have not witnessed these comparisons personally. Secondly, the answer to this question can only be felt when you see us sit together and share meal every night. We are neighbors, we eat together, and we exercise together. Now every time my brother makes me feel like he is the better actor than me that is the day I will step out from (the show). What people say we cannot do is inequality.”

He said that as much as audience is important, their opinion on personal matters is irrelevant. Aparshakti also mentioned that he touches his brother's feet as a sign of respect up to this date in the morning. He said, “Because we share such an old-school Ram-Lakshman relationship, it makes me wonder…What was the probability that two brothers from Chandigarh would get into films? Even on this I ponder a lot, and I haven’t said this to him before, but I am relieved that he is more successful than me, because in the Ram-Lakshman equation, I’m happy to be Lakshman", he added.

The feet touching tradition was established when they were teenagers and after getting scolding from their father they decided to do it. “After that, the conclusion was that from this day on, you will call him ‘bhaiya’ and every morning you will touch his feet in the morning and that is the only way you can stay in this house, or you can’t stay in this house,” he said.

Although Ayushmann has not had a release this year, Aparshakti was recently a part of the big film Stree 2.
