Alia Bhatt is excelling in her professional career, establishing herself as a central figure in Bollywood and one of the leading personalities in the entertainment industry. From her debut in Student of the Year to her remarkable performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi, her journey has been truly inspiring. Currently, she is preparing for the release of her upcoming film, Jigra. Beyond being an exceptionally talented actress, Alia is also a loving mother to her daughter, Raha. Recently, she shared the story behind choosing Raha's name, which involves the South Indian star, Jr NTR.

In a recent conversation with Jr NTR, who is promoting his film Devara Part 1, Alia Bhatt reminisced about her time promoting Brahmastra: Part 1 while being heavily pregnant. She recalled that she and Ranbir were in Hyderabad for the promotions, where Jr NTR invited them to a party at his home. During this time, Alia and Ranbir were discussing potential names for their baby, depending on whether it was a boy or a girl. This was the first time Jr NTR heard the name ‘Raha’ and expressed his hope that they would have a baby girl. Alia recounted:

"This bond began when Taarak graciously attended the Brahmastra press meet in Hyderabad and invited us for dinner at his home. It was such a warm evening, and I remember it was the first time we discussed potential baby names in front of everyone. Ranbir and I were like, ‘If it’s a girl, it’ll be this, and if it’s a boy, it’ll be that.’”

For those who may not know, Alia Bhatt and Jr NTR worked together in the movie RRR, where Jr NTR played a lead role, and Alia had a supporting role. Alia admitted that she initially expected to feel quite intimidated by Jr NTR on her first day on set but was pleasantly surprised by his demeanor. She shared that after filming, there would be complete silence on set, which was unexpected as she was used to a more chaotic environment.

She also mentioned that Jr NTR made her feel comfortable, and what she admires most about him is his unpredictability as an actor. Alia said: “Contrary to what I imagined, he wasn’t intimidating at all. He was very helpful and quiet. I was so surprised by how quiet the set was after ‘cut’. There was complete silence, and I wondered why no one was shouting. I felt nervous, but Taarak made me feel very comfortable. Whenever I would make a mistake, he would gently correct me. What I love about him as an actor is his unpredictability.”

Alia also revealed that Raha’s name was chosen by her grandmother, Neetu Kapoor. In Swahili, Raha means ‘joy’; in Sanskrit, it signifies ‘clan’; in Bengali, it denotes ‘rest, comfort, and relief’; and in Arabic, it represents ‘peace, happiness, freedom, and bliss.’ Raha truly lives up to her name, bringing immense love and light into her parents' lives.
