In a candid and heartfelt conversation, Kunal Bhan, the lead in the newly released series Gamer Log, opened up about his unconventional journey into acting and his experience on the show. Born in Bombay, raised in Bahrain, and trained as a computer engineer, Kunal originally dreamed of becoming a game developer. “I wanted to create video games,” he shared, “but in college, I discovered a love for acting through short films.”

Despite strong academics and an engineering background, Kunal leaped into the entertainment industry around 2018, moving to Mumbai and facing months of auditions. “It was frustrating,” he admitted. “But I knew I had to give it a shot. I couldn't live with the ‘what if’.”

His breakthrough came with ad films and eventually a TV show (Sanjeevani, 2019), which helped him survive financially through the pandemic. During COVID, Kunal gained a strong social media following by creating wholesome, comedic content with his grandmother. “I'm an accidental creator,” he said, “but it kept me relevant when sets were shut.”

On Gamer Log, Kunal found both a role and a family. “This set wasn’t just professional—it felt like home,” he shared. He hilariously recalled giving the audition in a Superman suit en route to Comic-Con, aligning perfectly with the show’s geeky tone.

Addressing challenges in the industry, Kunal emphasized adaptability, integrity, and honesty. “If the story isn’t worth telling, I won’t do it,” he said. While he's open to diverse roles, he avoids projects that feel exploitative or lack authenticity.

For Kunal Bhan, the future is clear: “Acting will always be the dream. Everything else—social media, content, PR—is just a means to fuel that.”
