Deepti Naval, Rajit Kapur and Pushan Kripalani very recently launched the trailer of their upcoming, internationally acclaimed film, Goldfish. The trailer has already made waves with its heartfelt story and the myriad of emotions that are seen throughout. The film also marks Kalki Koechlin's return to the big screen after 4 years on 25th August 2023.
Starring Deepti Naval and Rajit Kapur, audiences can expect a soul-stirring story with refreshing performances. Directed by Pushan Kripalani, this Indian-British-American production also brings together some of the most extraordinary actors from the United Kingdom – Bharti Patel, Gordon Warnecke, Ravin Ganatra and Shanaya Rafaat – to tell a delicate, timeless story of a mother and a daughter, and of community.
While the audience waits with bated breath for Goldfish to release in theatres, here are five things we loved from the glimpse of the movie that we got from the trailer.
Performances
Deepti Naval and Kalki Koechlin’s camaraderie and soul-stirring performances stood out in the trailer on their own. The raw intensity that these performances brought to the screen was completely captivating. Rajit Kapur and the wide ensemble cast added to the appeal of the movie. We cannot wait to watch these performances come to life on the big screen
The Mother-Daughter Relationship
The trailer showed us a glimpse into the bond shared between Deepti Naval and Kalki Koechlin. With anger, frustration, sadness, joy, and everything in between, it perfectly captured the essence of every mother-daughter relationship. The love-hate bond that they share encapsulates the depth of their emotions and is definitely one that will make you miss your own mother!
Music
The short yet impactful glimpse of the Hindustani classical music that we received through the trailer was awe-inspiring. The serene, yet thoughtful tune pulls you into the world of the movie and makes you feel the emotions that are reflected through the characters on screen.
Drama and Comedy
It is often tough to strike a balance between making the audience laugh and cry at the same time, but the trailer of Goldfish seamlessly managed to achieve the same. With moments that induced anger and tears in the audience to those that would make you chuckle in a second, Goldfish promises to be the perfect emotional treat for one and all
Artistic Approach
From the European setting in London to the artistic aesthetic of the film, Goldfish doesn’t miss a beat when it comes to engulfing the audiences deeper into the world it creates. Pushan Kripalani has done his absolute best to make a movie so real to life, so relatable and yet so beautiful that you do not feel like missing a beat while watching it. The artistic approach that Goldfish offers is magnetic
