BLACKPINK’s Rosé has been gaining attention for her candidness during promotions for her upcoming album Rosie.
In a recent interview with Apple Music, the idol spoke openly about her past relationships, challenging the usual norms in K-pop where artists often keep personal matters private.
One of the album’s tracks, titled Toxic Till The End, reflects Rosé’s personal experiences. When asked about writing such an emotional song, she admitted it wasn’t difficult because the topic had been on her mind for years. “It was something that was living with me for a few years. I personally don’t think I deserved it, but it was there. Like I am actually shocked to today that I can wake up and be like, ‘I don’t talk about that anymore’ because I am grateful that I got to do this album because I used to talk about it so much.”
Rosé shared that while she talked about the relationship frequently, she didn’t want her ex to know or take any credit. “When you ask if it was hard, it was very easy for me to talk about it because it was something I was talking about all the time. I’d hate it but I’d never like the person to know about it, but I would talk about it so much. Do not want to give credit to the person, but I talk about it and it was the easiest.”
Rosé concluded by saying the album allowed her to release the emotional weight she had carried. “I needed to get it off my chest,” she added.
Fans praised her for breaking stereotypes, with many appreciating her transparency as she prepared for Rosie.
No, but seriously, this is the first time I’ve seen a K-pop idol openly discuss their romantic relationships and share how a breakup has impacted them publicly🤧🤧 pic.twitter.com/owqqXs87ya

What I love most about Rosé's solo era is that she can talk freely in interviews without being accused of selfish for "not giving the other members a chance to speak," like she often was during BLACKPINK interviews. https://t.co/i7JWyc8f76 pic.twitter.com/34bI5ibV6N

i love how open she is even though she doesn’t have to be. she’s breaking boundaries in kpop, where talking abt relationships is a taboo https://t.co/bNvgJMDsVJ
