Based on the novel of same name, Behind Her Eyes, written by Sarah Pinborough, the British psychological thriller TV series drama premiered on Netflix, will leave astonished by the time you complete 6 episodes.
Behind Her Eyes tells the story of receptionist, Louise (Simona Brown) who has a secret affair with her boss and a psychiatrist, David (Tom Bateman) who has just moved into London. Louise secretly befriends David’s gorgeous and lonely wife, Adele (Eve Hewson) who is always avoided by her husband. The plot thickens as Louise finds out about Adele’s past story at rehabilitation center where she strikes a friendship with a gay Scottish guy, Rob (Robert Aramayo) who plays a key role to David and Adele’s marriage.
Created by Steve Lightfoot, Behind Her Eyes requires lot of patience and calmness to watch. The story and the character takes time to develop. It is only the at the later episodes when Louise is fired from her job and she starts digging about Adele’s past, the plot becomes more interesting to watch. Behind Her Eyes does end with a solid twist, probably one of the best in the recent times. On the flip side, the screenplay moves at a snail pace in the first few episodes which makes you wonder if the web-series is actually worth watching.
Nevertheless, the performance of the lead cast is the silver lining of the suspense drama. Behind Her Eyes is focused on three central characters – Louise, Adele and David with respective actors playing their part with aplomb.
Overall, if you are looking for a slow-burn psychological thriller with a good twist at the end, Behind Her Eyes might be the right choice. 3/5
Behind Her Eyes is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Left Bank Pictures. The web-series is currently streaming on Netflix.
