As most of the cinema halls have been shutting down, there was hardly any takers for the Irrfan Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Angrezi Medium at the box office on Wednesday.
Much was expected from Angrezi Medium considering the popularity build by Hindi Medium when it was released in 2017. Despite receiving rave reviews, Angrezi Medium got hit by the Corona Virus issue which led to the shutdown of the cinema halls starting from 13th March, 2019, the same day Irrfan Khan starrer released.
The user reviews of Angrezi Medium was excellent as per BookMyShow.com which has led to the opening of Rs 4.03 crores on the first day and has beaten the opening day figure of Hindi Medium which collected Rs 2.81 crore on its first day. Since Saturday most of cinema halls across was shutdown due to Corona Virus scare, Angrezi Medium suffered a major decline in the collection with Rs 3.14 crore followed by further decline on Sunday with Rs 2.55 crore. The earnings went down to Rs 50 lakhs crore on Monday and Rs 10 lakhs on Tuesday. As per early estimates, the drop was continuous on Wednesday with Rs 5 lakhs, bringing the total figure after 6 days to Rs 10.18 crore.
Angrezi Medium is made on a budget of Rs 35 crore (Production Cost: 25 Crore, Prints & Advertising Cost: 10 Crore) produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock film Productions.
