Varun Dhawan & Samantha Ruth Prabhu at the Citadel Trailer Launch

Prime Video held an exclusive event in Mumbai for the media and fans, attended by fans of Varun Dhawan, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Raj & DK,  to release the teaser and announce the release date of their upcoming show Citadel: Honey Bunny.

When asked about the preparation required for the role, Varun Dhawan lauded his co-star Samantha for working while also dealing with Myositis, an autoimmune condition that affects the muscles, and said “Honestly, my preparation was very easy compared to Samantha’s. It’s public knowledge what she was battling when she joined the show. I thought my rehearsals were tough, but then I saw her incredible work ethic despite her struggles, and it truly inspired me. We became partners in making things happen.” He further added, "Samantha inspired not just me, but also Raj, DK, Sita, and everyone at Amazon. Her dedication to this action show is truly inspirational.”

On her chemistry with Varun Dhawan, Samatha said, “It was a partnership, like when we’d do action, it really felt like a dance. It felt like, you know, we discussed this, action felt like romantic song because there was just so much sync."

"It’s the both of us with a cameraman and everyone has to be in absolute sync. So I’ve never felt that kind of chemistry with anyone and I believe it shows because that action sequence is truly special, if I should say so myself, but just making it was absolutely beautiful”, she added.

Varun Dhawan also opened up on father David Dhawan's reaction to him acting in this thriller series, "For my dad, he did not like my personality had become post Badlapur, he likes to see me a certain way. But when this came about, because I've matured since then, he knows I can handle all this. But he was so excited that I as working with Raj & DK, so he is very excited."

Citadel: Honey Bunny starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu is an action spy thriller OTT series releasing on Amazon Prime Video on November 7. This series, created by Raj & DK is the spin off to the popular American TV series Citadel. The film also stars Sikandar Kher, Kay Kay Menon, Saqib Saleem and Emma Canning.
