Ae Watan Mere Watan made its debut on Amazon Prime Video on March 21 and Sara Ali Khan who potrayed Indian freedom fighter Usha Mehta continues to win the hearts of many. Recently the actress received praise from Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi.
Tushar Gandhi took to Twitter to express his admiration for Sara's performance and recalled his personal connection to Usha Mehta.
He worote: "I grew up knowing Ushaben Mehta... It all came alive as I watched #Ae_Vatan_Mere_Vatan. Thank you @SaraAliKhan you brought Ushaben alive."
Ae Watan Mere Watan tells the story of Usha Mehta, who played a prominent role in India's struggle for independence by running an underground radio station during the Quit India Movement of 1942.
The movie is helmed by Kannan Iyer and the screenplay is jointly written by Iyer and Darab Farooqui. The film is bankrolled by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra under the banner of Dharmatic Entertainment.
Apart from Sara Ali Khan's outstanding performance, the movie also boasts of commendable acting by Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastava, Alexx O'Neil, and Anand Tiwari. Emraan Hashmi has a special appearance in the movie.
