Actress Kim Soo Hyun End Marriage After Five Years

Actress Kim Soo Hyun has officially ended her marriage to businessman Cha Min Geun, also known as Matthew Shampine, after five years together.

According to a report from StarNews, the couple recently agreed to a mutual divorce, bringing their relationship to a close. While the reasons behind their decision remain private, the news has caught public attention.

Kim and Cha tied the knot in December 2019, holding a wedding at the prestigious Shilla Hotel in Seoul. Their romance became a media sensation after they publicly announced their relationship just four months before their wedding. In 2020, the couple welcomed their daughter, though no details regarding custody arrangements have been disclosed following their divorce.

Kim Soo Hyun first gained fame as a model, winning first place in the 2005 Korea-China Supermodel Contest. She transitioned into acting the following year, making her debut in the SBS K-drama Queen of the Game. Over the years, Kim built a successful career, starring in notable series such as Fugitive Plan B (2010), Romance Town (2011), Brain (2011), Monster (2016), and Chimera (2021).

In 2015, Kim broke into Hollywood, landing a role in the Marvel film Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Her fluency in English and acting skills helped her secure roles in international films such as The Dark Tower (2017) and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018), as well as Netflix’s Marco Polo series (2014–2016).

Despite the personal challenges, Kim remains focused on her career. Her latest project, Ordinary Family, is set to premiere in October, marking her debut in a Korean film.
