Mohit Suri( Raaz 2 , Woh Lamhe) directs the sequel to the Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal starrer blockbuster Aashiqui which was released two decades ago. Ashiqui 2 is simple rags to rich story of two people who are completely in love with each other. Coming to performances , Aditya Roy Kapur gives his best shot. He is superb in the later scenes where he just throws things around. Shraddha Kapoor was wooden during the initial reel but gives in a good performance towards the end. Background score is good along with couple of songs including “Tum Hi Ho” and “Sunn Raha Hai” which has beautiful composition by Mithoon, Jeet Ganguly and Ankit Tiwari.

According to the Boxofficeindia.com, Aashiqui 2 was released on 26th April, 2013 at 1150 screens to Rs 5.11 crores. Produced by Vishesh Films and T-Series, the romantic-drama collected Rs 17.90 crores in its first weekend and went onto collect Rs 34.69 crores in its first week. Aashiqui 2 ended its theatrical run with Rs 78.64 crores against a budget of Rs 15 crores and turned out to be “Blockbuster” at the box office.
