Though Panga, more than doubled on the second day at the box office, it could not elevate the earnings on Sunday as expected. Directed by Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, who directed magnificent films like Nil Battey Sannata and Bareilly Ki Barfi, Panga showed a drop on its first Monday and Tuesday.
Panga earned exceptional reviews as can been seen from BookMyShow.com but competition from Street Dancer and Tanhaji prevented it from taking a decent opening. Panga opened to below expected result collecting Rs 2.70 crore on the first day. The sports drama showed a growth by almost 120%, collecting a Rs 5.61 crore. However, there was a slight growth on 3rd day with Rs 6.50 crore. The earnings dropped on first Monday with Rs 1.65 crore. The earnings did not drop on Tuesday as the earnings were same as compared to Monday with Rs 1.65 crore followed by Rs 1.62 crore on Wednesday and Rs 1.53 crore on Thursday, As per early estimates, there was a slight drop on Wednesday with Rs 1.48 crore, bringing the 7 days total to Rs 21.36 crore. Since the budget of Panga is Rs 45 crore (Production cost is Rs 35 crore, Promotion and Marketing is Rs 10 crore), the sports drama will suffer heavy losses.
Follow up to the hit franchises like ABCD and ABCD 2, Street Dancer connected well with youth and ended the first day collections to Rs Rs 10.26 crore. The earnings grew up by 35% on the second day with Rs 13.21 crore followed by further growth on Sunday with Rs 17.60 crore. The earnings dropped on Monday with
Rs 4.35 crore while Tuesday was stable with Rs 3.88 crore and Rs 3.58 crore on Wednesday. As per early estimates, the musical drama dropped reasonably to around 3.43 crore, bringing the 7 days total to around Rs 57 crore. The budget of Street dancer is Rs 95 crore (Production cost is Rs 85 crore, Promotion and Marketing is Rs 10 crore) from 3700 screens.
