This year on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of BTS Twitter launched nine emojis dedicated solely to BTS that will automatically be applied when specific hashtags are used. Earlier, in 2016, BTS got its first-ever Twitter emoji replicating their logo – a bulletproof vest. The septet’s group was also reportedly the first Korean Twitter account to have 10 million followers.


The aficionados of BTS are called a BTS ARMY. The acronym ARMY stands for Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth (ARMY). The name is given by the K-pop idols themselves. Their logo of a bulletproof vest is symbolized with the acronym A.R.M.Y. It was officially formulated in 2013 during the band’s foundation.

According to the reports in Forbes, the BTS music video DNA has become the most commented YouTube video by taking over from Psy’s Gangnam Style, which has over 5 million comments to date. DNA which was released back in 2017 has crossed 6.3 million comments as of October third week. Also, the BTS’ Dynamite has become a music video with the biggest first-day debut to date with 101.1 million views within 24 hours of its release.

BTS created history this year by becoming the first-ever act to take home the grand prizes, aka daesang, in both the digital song and physical album categories at the 2020 Golden Disc Awards for “Boy with Luv” and Map of the Soul: Persona, respectively. The Bangtan Boys were also the first K-pop act to be nominated for Best Recording Package at the 2019 ceremony. They were also the first K-pop act to present at the Grammys.

The band initially called themselves “Bulletproof Boy Scouts,” which they later changed in 2017. On the K-pop group’s official website, BTS boys describe themselves that is the band’s name as an acronym for the Korean term Bangtan Sonyeondan, which if translated into English means “Beyond the scene.”
