It shows the world from the perspective of Apu or Apurba Kumar Roy, who has transformed from a young man to a worldly man, and the vicissitudes he has faced in his life.
Apu is a child in this movie and it shows how entangled he is with his family members. He loses his sister, Durga, hence ending his childhood prematurely and facing the real truths of life.
