While we have talents like Zoya Akhtar, Imtiaz Ali, Anand Rai and Sriram Raghavan building a brand name for Bollywood globally with their outstanding contribution to cinema, we do have bloopers like Sajid Khan and Farah Khan who are equally incompetent with their crap.
As I begin writing my views on worst directors, the thought that do come to mind is that how silly and crap a movie can be made with massive budget , high cost production, popular star cast and widely distributed by Hollywood studio ? There are movies like Shahid and Bheja Fry with high quality content made on a shoe string budget ( Rs 80 lakhs and Rs 50 lakhs respectively, yes you read it right ) and yet managed to impress the audience. Why do we have people like Sajid Khan making films and yet actors like Saif Ali Khan and Ajay Devgan are working with him ?
Let us explore their work which has not only given us headache but we also wish them to retire early in life.
- Sajid Khan
Officially declared as “King of trash”, Sajid Khan has tortured us with his heart-wrenching tales like Housefull series, Himmatwala and the most irritating one Humshakkals. In Humshakkals, you will wonder how amateurish can Sajid Khan get. Imagine a scene where there is a chain of slapping between Riteish, Saif , Ram Kapoor and Satish Shah with Shah quoting it as Slapstick Comedy. Please spare us
- Farah Khan
Sajid Khan’s sibling Farah Khan started her career in Bollywood as a dance choreographer and went on to direct films with her maiden venture Main Hoon Na which was a decent entertainer followed by quirky Om Shanti Om. She shocked us by directing Tees Maar Khan which was probably one of worst movie ever made in the history of Indian cinema. It was boring, avoidable and torturous. If you would want to take revenge from your enemy, make them watch Tees Maar Khan.
- Shirish Kunder
Another member from Sajid-Farah Khan fraternity, Shirish Kunder made a joke of himself by making Joker. He started his career as editor in Champion and Main Hoon Na before rolling out himself as director with failed attempt Jaan-E-Mann: Let’s Fall in Love… Again . We wish Shirish to continue with his editing work only.
Choreographer turned director- Prabhudeva impressed everyone with his action masala entertainer Wanted starring Salman Khan. However, he made audience danced on their toes with craps like Ramaiya Vastavaiya and Action Jackson. All we can say everybody cannot direct films.
- Ram Gopal Verma
It is sad to keep directors like RGV in this category who gave us some cult classic like Shiva, Sarkar and Company. But off-late, RGV has lost his charm and played a spoil-sport with the most horrible remake of the classic like Sholay – Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag. The torture did not end here. RGV went on to direct some forgettable films like Department, Bhooth Returns, The Attacks of 26/11 and Satya 2. It is high time for Ramu to think about his retirement plan.
