Despite facing tough competition from Dhadak and last week release Mission Impossible-FallOut, Soorma stayed strong in its third weekend box office surpassing the 30 crores mark.
The sports drama, based on the life of Sandeep Singh, had an average first week and second week collection but the Diljit Dosanjh and Tapsee Pannu starrer “Soorma” stayed strong over the weekdays at the domestic box office during its third weekend collection despite facing tough nuts like Dhadak, Skyscraper and Sanju.
Praised by both audience and critics alike, Soorma did okay in its first week collecting Rs 21.21 crores. The collection on second weekend crashed due to the release of Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor starer Dhadak and Hollywood biggie Skyscraper. Surprisingly, the business escalated over its second weekend and showed strong legs during the weekdays to bring the total Rs 7.05 crores at the end of its second week. Again, last we saw the big release of Tom Cruise starrer Mission Impossible-FallOut due to which the earnings dipped to Rs 35 lakhs on Friday, but business of the sports drama saw an upward trend to Rs 70 lakhs on Saturday followed by Rs 80 lakhs on Sunday bringing the third weekend collections to Rs 1.85 crores and an overall collection to Rs 30.11 crores.
Soorma carries a good word-of-mouth reviews, so the collections should continue to be better. Soorma has crossed its budget which is Rs 25 Crores (all inclusive of prints and advertising cost) so it is already in safe hands for the producers.
