The biopic movies are charming all their way to the box office this year. “Airlift”, “Neerja”, “Rustom” and now “M.S.Dhoni : The Untold Story” breaking the barrier to become the highest grossing biopic film of Bollywood beating Rakesh OmPrakash Mehra’s “Bhaag Milkh Bhaag” which was loosely based on the life of athlete Milkha Singh.
3rd Tuesday BO : The Dhoni Biopic Slows Down !!!
Coming to the economics of “M.S.Dhoni : The Untold Story”, the sports drama, based on the life of the most successful Indian Cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, is down but definitely not out. In fact, “M.S.Dhoni : The Untold Story” is the only film currently running to some decent footfalls in the theaters and with few more earnings by today as I write, the sports drama will cross the lifetime collections of Akshay Kumar starrer “Airlift” which collected Rs 129 crores at the domestic box office.
“M.S.Dhoni : The Untold Story” finally went down after week of stupendous running at the box office and breaking few records here and there. As third Monday was a normal day, “M.S.Dhoni : The Unold Story” dropped which was reasonable bringing the collections to Rs 128.07 crores to become the third highest grosser of 2016 beating Akshay Kumar’s “Rustom” which earned Rs 127.42 crores in its lifetime. The business on Tuesday went further down collecting Rs 61 lacs and summing up the total collections to Rs 128.36 crores. “M.S.Dhoni : The Untold Story” remained stable on Wednesday collecting somewhere around Rs 60 lacs bringing the final numbers to Rs 128.96 crores (final numbers to be updated).
This is definitely doable and with this “M.S.Dhoni : The Untold Story” will officially become the second highest grosser of 2016 behind Salman Khan starrer “Sultan”.
