After dropping on 2nd Friday with an estimate of Rs 7.43 crores, the business of wrestling drama “Sultan” showed a huge growth on its second Saturday by 40-50%.
The major release this Friday was Indar Kumar’s sex comedy “Great Grand Masti” which was released in around 1700 screns pan India that hurt the collections of “Sultan” to some extent. Due to illegal copy of “Great Grand Masti” already released a week ago coupled with bad reviews from critics and audience alike, the third part in the series was affected by the end of Friday which gave a solid chance to Salman Khan starrer “Sultan”. The critically acclaimed film on MMA sports fighting showed a good jump and minted somewhere between Rs 10.50-12.15 crores ( final numbers awaited).
Infact in few places like Delhi and Punjab, the business of “Sultan” escalated from 78 lacs to Rs 1.36 crores which cemented the position of “Sultan” at No.1. The total collection at the domestic box office is between the range of Rs 246.75-248.75(final numbers awaited). Salman Khan has beaten record of the lifetime collection of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer “Chennai Express” which earned Rs 227 cores and his own film “KICK” which earned Rs 231.80 crores.
“Sultan” will be 4th highest grossing film after “Dhoom 3”, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” and “PK”. In Overseas, “Sultan” collected $ 17.46 million [₹ 117.15 cr] with following break-up :-
USA-CANADA: $ 4.28 million
UAE-GCC: $ 6.65 million
UK-IRELAND: £ 1.30 million
PAKISTAN: $ 2.21 million
AUSTRALIA: $ 780k
