‘From Alladin’, ‘The Lion King’ & even ‘Beauty & The Beast’ Disney’s Live-action adaptations have ended up receiving mix reviews from its audiences but The Little Mermaid seems far different and can sweep off any negative reviews for bringing an utmost glory to a unforgettable fairy tale.

Directed by Rob Marshall, The Little Mermaid (2023) is a American Musical Fantasy Film, Co-produced y Walt Disney Pictures DeLuca Marshall, and Marc Platt Productions. It is a live-action adaptation of Walt Disney Animation Studios' 1989 film of the same name, itself based on the 1837 fairy tale of the same title by Hans Christian Andersen.

The film stars, Halle Bailey as Ariel the youngest daughter of the Sea King Triton played by Javier Bardem. The Sea Witch Ursula is played by Melissa McCarthy while Jonah Hauer-King plays Eric who is the human prince whom Ariel falls in love with after saving him from a shipwreck.

There are three major sea creatures in the plot who are friends of Ariel, Sebastian, a loyal crab & King Triton’s trusted servant, he watches over Ariel, he has been voiced by Daveed Diggs. A sea-bird (Scuttle) voiced by Awkwafina, the character is portrayed as a female diving bird instead od a male seagull. While Jacob Trembly has voiced Flounder, a tropical fish and Ariel’s Best Friend.

The casting of the film has been up to the mark especially with the Halle Bailey as mermaid and the heart of the film. She has nailed the character gorgeously especially when she starts singing “Part of your world.”

The musical fantasy film lives to its original tracks from the older animated version with changes in lyrics. Jodi Benson, the original voice of Ariel in the animated film, cameos in this film as a market vendor during Ariel and Eric's tour of the kingdom.

Overall, Halle Bailey is the new one of the beautiful discoveries of the film followed by Melissa McCarthy’s amazing performance as Ursula. The Little Mermaid lives up to the mark and brings back an nostalgic experience.
