The supermodel embraced the no-pants trend on the Met Gala red carpet in a risqué Marc Jacobs bodysuit dripping in sequins. The lady served one of the boldest looks of fashion’s biggest night dressed in a statement piece featuring extra-long sleeves with white quilted lining that trailed behind her like a split cape, an embellished collar, figure-hugging fitting and high-leg cut-outs. She paired up the drama with lace-up extremely high platform boots, striking makeup, a centre-parted high ponytail and Lorraine Schwartz earrings.

JLo walked the Met Gala red carpet in a jaw dropping custom silk velvet halter-neck gown with a draped, handmade silk satin skirt. The ultra-sexy dress by Ralph Lauren featured intricate detailing; a floral collar with hand moulded petals, black silk evening gloves and a matching petite beret with sculptural tulle. She completed the look with black platform heels, a blush pink clutch, diamond jewellery, a sleek updo, nude pink lip shade, striking eye shadow, winged eyeliner, mascara on the lashes, rouged cheekbones and highlighted skin.

The actress attended the Met Gala in a Swarovski crystal embellished dress by Versace and a coin necklace by Bulgari. Anne channelled Karl Lagerfeld’s most famous muses – the 90s supermodels – to make a stellar comeback to fashion’s biggest nights. The strapless gown features cut-outs embellished with bejewelled safety pins, a bodycon silhouette and a cropped embellished jacket. She wore the ensemble with a half-tied 90s inspired messy hairdo, glossy lips, bold eyeliner, rouged cheeks, dainty earrings and a minimal base.

Michaela arrived dripping in gold to co-host Met Gala 2023. She chose a gilded Schiaparelli semi-sheer gown featuring full-length sleeves, a curve-hugging silhouette; 1,30,000 crystals embroidered onto a dark brown base, star-shaped adornments on the chest and abs, chain detailing near the crotch, pearls embroidery and gold leaves wrapped around the arms. She accessorised the ensemble with an ornate diamond and gold necklace, gold pendant earrings and rings and anatomical gold heels with toe-shaped detailing. She wore her hair in straight-back cornrow braids and her glam included a sharp wing with sparkly red eyeshadow and a nude lip.

DOJA CAT

The popstar was a nod to Karl Lagerfeld’s love for cats. She sported a bedazzled silver Oscar De La Renta dress, complete with cat ears and face prosthetics that transformed her into a humanized feline. The outfit was a playful and creative homage to Lagerfeld’s fondness for kitties. It’s safe to say that if the 2019 film adaptation of Cats could see Doja Cat’s look, it would be envious. Overall, her unique and eye-catching ensemble was a hit at the event.

KIM KARDASHIAN

Known for her controversial Met Gala outfits, from her “wet dress” in 2019 to last year’s Marilyn Monroe inspired look. However, this year’s outfit left us feeling underwhelmed and disappointed. It seemed to epitomize the decline of her empire, lacking any inspiration or creativity. Instead of a daring and sexy nod to her 2007 Playboy shoot with just a few pearls and lots of skin, she wore a clumsy nude panelled waist trainer. Overall, Kardashian’s outfit was lacklustre and didn’t live up to her past Met Gala looks.

BILLIE EILISH

Billie Eilish was a standout at the previous year’s Met Gala, making her choice of nearly identical dress for this year’s event all the more disappointing. While the dress features sheer sleeves and a fitted bodice, the fact that it is essentially the same design, albeit in a different color, feels like a regression in fashion rather than a step forward. Lagerfeld’s designs were innovative and forward-thinking, making this kind of outfit repetition all the more worthy of criticism. Billie Eilish is known for her unique style and it’s unfortunate that she opted for such a unoriginal choice for the 2023 Met Gala.

KYLIE JENNER

Not wanting her sister to be the only one on the list, Kylie came prepared to the 2023 Met Gala. Although at first, it seemed like she had decided to show up in her silk pajamas, a closer look revealed that she was actually channeling her inner Jessica Rabbit. Her choice of a stunning floor-length red gown was a departure from other guests who opted for Lagerfeld or Choupette inspired outfits.

CARDI B

Once again Cardi  B proved why she is a fashion icon at the Met Gala 2023. The rapper stunned on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a ballgown by Chenpeng Studio, perfectly in line with this year’s theme “in honor of Karl”. The gown featured a white shirt collar and tie, leading into a fitted black bodice with silver studs and a full black skirt with a quilted overlay and sculptural rosettes reminiscent of Chanel’s Boy Bag.

LIL NAS X

The Met Gala is known for truly bringing out the most daring and boundary pushing fashion statements and this year was no different. Lil Nas X stole the show with his over-the-top look, consisting of nothing but silver paint, jewels and a Dior Men thong. The rapper looked otherworldly as he walked the red carpet, covered head-to-toe in 218,784 round flatback Swarovski crystals, with pearls and crystals encrusted on his body paint. He finished off the look with a Choupette inspired mask that added a touch of whimsy to his already outrageous outfit.
