Not sure how to start arranging a road trip across America this summer? You're in luck, though! Recently, Randy Olson and Tracy Staedter produced a map outlining the most efficient way to drive across all 48 states in the United States.
The map was made by Randy Olson and shows 50 significant national monuments, national parks, and national historic sites. You won't leave the nation if you take the advised path, which will take you through all 48 contiguous states.
Budget 13,699 miles, or around 224 hours, of driving if you genuinely intend to make the journey. Trying to complete the journey in one go would take approximately 9.33 days, but according to Olson, it would realistically take two to three months.
On the road journey, Olson had three basic guidelines.
At least one stop must be made in each of the 48 contiguous US states throughout the journey.
Only stops at National Natural Landmarks, Natural Historic Sites, National Parks, or National Monuments would be made on the journey.
The journey must always be made by vehicle within the United States.
Randy began working on a genetic algorithm after Tracy created a list of 50 significant American locations, and it finally drove 13,699 miles throughout the country. You may start anywhere on the map and follow the path to complete the journey, which requires a total of 224 hours of driving over two to three months.

If you had the whole 13,699-mile route to yourself, it would take 9.33 days of nonstop driving. But Mr. Olsen suggests allocating two to three months to do the journey.
During this tour, you'll see every significant location in the United States, and as an extra benefit, you won't have to spend too much time travelling through Nebraska's unending fields of corn, he wrote on his blog.
Another road trip itinerary designed by the data scientist includes stops in the top-rated TripAdvisor cities.
Similar to the original and covering 12,290 miles, this map omits North Dakota, Vermont, and West Virginia.
This is particularly intriguing considering TripAdvisor reviewers prefer locations like North Dakota, Vermont, and West Virginia over Flint, Michigan, the sixth most violent city in the US. I'll let the reader decide how to interpret that information,' Olson wrote.
Olson also devised the perfect European road vacation, and he made the code available so that anybody could design their own itinerary.
Mr. Olsen suggests setting aside three months to study the cities on the 16,287-mile, 14-day European road tour.
