In this age of obsession with Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, where anything that catches our attention is a potential topic for the next write-up. Living in a world sans Internet is somewhat like a horror movie. Have you ever caught yourself frantically reaching for your phone just to check, if there was something that you missed while you were actually doing something off of the virtual world?
This hyper connectivity maybe consuming most of us. The sad part is that, even when we are on a vacation, we feel the need to keep our so-called ‘friends’ updated with our doings and enjoyments. But why do we feel this need? Don’t we need to take a break for OURSELVES?
Every time when a delicious meal is served or when we see a beautiful sunrise/sunset, why do we feel an urge to pull out our ‘smartphones’ from our pockets and click a picture instead of actually living that moment and appreciating it with our bare eyes?
In the race of presenting the “perfect” life to the society around us, we are missing out on essentials. This might sound weird but I have collectively put up a list of places with unreliable phone or internet access which would turn out to be the perfect reason to take a ‘No Internet’ vacation right away!
NATHANG VALLEY – SIKKIM
Nathang valley is paradise incarnate. Located 13,500 feet above sea level. It is one of the highest points in the Indian subcontinent. The place is covered in snow for four months, from January to April.
ICE KINGDOM, ZANSKAR – LADAKH
This cold desert is home to multiple beautiful and unique panoramas. One among these, Ice-Kingdom, does not have cell phone coverage. Enjoy feeling like you are in a scene from Ice Age at this pretty spot.
SWARGAROHINI – UTTARAKHAND
Swargarohini is another scenic spot in Uttarakhand. It is believed to be the path Draupadi and the Pandavas walked through, the place is famously known as the trek to heaven. The ideal time to visit here is between March to September.
VALLEY OF FLOWERS – UTTARAKHAND
This scenic location in Uttarakhand has no cell phone coverage. But the trek to the valley is decorated by colourful petals as far as the eye can see and is worth watching. An ideal visit would be during the blooming season.
AGUMBE – KARNATAKA
Agumbe, popularly known as “The Cherrapunji of the South,” is a beautiful village in Karnataka. It is sprinkled with numerous waterfalls and enrapturing sights.
