Scream VI is unlike other horror movies and especially other parts of Scream series. It’s this kind of first-class horror filmmaking that makes Scream 6 feel so fresh and alive. The ending of a Scream movie is always the best part. It’s what you’ve been waiting for: the reveal of who’s behind that now iconic mask and why they’re targeting the teenagers of Woodsboro.

Scream VI, however, bucks that trend. It has an excellent ending to be sure (don’t worry, we won’t even come close to spoiling it) but what really stands out is that the rest of the movie is almost as good. It’s a much more balanced movie than we’re used to seeing from the franchise.

Studded cast of the film impresses as well; the new addition to the Scream franchise brings some old favourites back with Courteney Cox playing Gale Weathers, a reporter, and Hayden Panettiere essaying the role of Kirby Reed who surprisingly survived an attack on her in the fourth movie. We also have the “core four” from the fifth instalment who hold the narration for the most part of the movie. Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera have a last of the survivors charm to them that makes their acting convincing.
