She talked about her life at the Ashram, where jazz icon Alice Coltrane was her mentor. During the stay at the ashram, she used to live a serene, hippy-like life, donning headscarves and singing Bhajans at the temple.

Before moving to NewYork to learn breakdance, she spent five years of her life at the ashram. Later she became a part of a pop-locking troupe and started recognisable for her high-energy performances on stage.

The pop-singer happily shared that being trained in Bhratnatyam made her more emotive and helped her gain more fluidity in her dance movements. “I feel like it taught me to be emotive and control my body in a special way,” she quoted.

Well the revelation really shocked everyone, as no one would ever thought a famous rapper of modern times, have ever learnt the classical dance form originated from the state of Tamil Nadu, India. Bharatnatyam is one of the eight Indian classical dance forms which represents Agni and tells ancient tales of Gods and Devtas.
