On Sunday-March 5, Indian tennis icon player Sania Mirza played her last match at Hyderabad's Lal Bahadur Stadium.
It was two decades earlier, when she had taken home the victory in the historic WTA single at the very same stadium that gave birth to her illustrious career. The 36-year-old player, who has six Grand Slam titles to her name, played an exhibition match as the final match of her career at the stadium.
THE FAREWELL HIGHLIGHTS
At Sania Mirza's final match, she was seen competing in a few friendly matches with the likes of Rohan Bopanna, Ivan Dodig, Cara Black, Bethanie Mattek-Sands, and Marion Bartoli. Yuvraj Singh also played with her.

Government officials including Telegana's IT minister as well as Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju were also in attendance. As they hailed Sania's career.
She was visibly emotional as her long career came to an end. At her farewell party in the evening in Hyderabad, several celebrities were seen in attendance including AR Rahman, Mahesh Babu and his wife.
Mahesh Babu on his official Twitter handle shared a picture from Sania Mirza’s farewell bash. Along with it, he congratulated her on the long journey. “What a journey! So so proud of you! @mirzasaniar,” Mahesh wrote. The actor looked dapper on the occasion wearing a black sweatshirt paired with khaki pants. His wife Namrata Shirodkar was seen twinning with him in an all-black outfit. Sania also opted for a black dress.
Oscsr winning AR Rahman also shared selfies with Mahesh Babu and Sania from the party. Re-sharing his photo with the music maestro, Mahesh wrote on Twitter, "Clicked by the legend himself!! Always a pleasure meeting you sir @arrahman (sic)."
