The announcement that Deepika Padukone will be one of the presenters at the forthcoming Academy Awards in 2023 has prompted a response from filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri. Together with Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Michael B. Jordan, and Samuel L. Jackson, Deepika was also added to the list of presenters for this year's Oscars by the Academy.
This year's presenters also include Riz Ahmed, Troy Kotsur, Glenn Close, Jennifer Connelly, Melissa McCarthy, Zoe Saldana, Donnie Yen, Jonathan Majors, and Questlove. The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles will host the 95th Academy Awards ceremony on March 12.
Vivek tweeted early on Friday: "I had remarked that now everyone wants to extend their presence in India while travelling with #TheKashmirFiles in the USA and receiving an enormous reaction from Americans. India is currently the world's most profitable, secure, and expanding market. The year of Indian film is currently. #AchcheDin."

Deepika has received criticism from Vivek on two previous occasions. When she showed up to the university after there had been violence on campus, he initially criticized her for going to the JNU campus in Delhi.
In a string of tweets from 2020, he had stated, "Received a call from an insider at @FoxStudiosIndia. I find it unbelievable that they were unaware of #DeepikaWithTukdeTukdeGang. They want to know who will be responsible if the movie doesn't make money. Because #DeepikaPadukone has endorsements galore, professional fees, and producer costs. According to what I've been informed, Deepika Padukone was advised to go stand next to Nirbhaya's parents for a picture opportunity. But at the last minute, she changed her mind because #JNU was trending and #Nirbahaya wasn't. Friends, this is how it operates.

He became involved in the controversy over Deepika's Besharam Rang song from the blockbuster Pathaan last year. He critiqued the song in a fan video that he shared, writing, "VIDEO AGAINST BOLLYWOOD: CAUTION. If you identify as "secular," avoid watching it."

RRR, All That Breathes, and The Elephant Whisperers are the three Indian films nominated this year. For the song Naatu Naatu from the film RRR, SS Rajamouli received a nomination for Best Original Song, while Shaunak Sen's All That Breathes received a nomination for Best Documentary Feature Film. The Elephant Whisperers, by Guneet Monga, is up for Best Documentary Short.
Deepika added "#oscars#oscars95" to the social media post made by the Academy's official account while sharing it. Ranveer Singh, her actor husband, immediately responded with clapping emojis.
