New Update

Airports all around the nation have been modernizing their terminals and constructing new international terminals. Similar plans call for a new terminal building at Pune International Airport. The Airports Authority of India started building this new terminal in 2018. They failed to meet the AAI's deadlines in January 2021, August 2022, December 2022, January 2023, and May 2023. But eventually, with almost 75% of the work finished, the Pune airport will begin a month-long trial run on July 1.

A One-Month Test Run

The authorities claim that about 75% of the work is finished, and after the building is finished, they will conduct test runs. The trial run will start on July 1 and last for one month. The passenger facilities will be evaluated, located, and maintained throughout this period. The passengers' trip would be more convenient and hassle-free as a result.

The building's construction will be finished in May, and the electrical work will be finished in June. The Airports Authority of India and the Union Ministry will receive the trial runs' reports, which will be delivered in stages. The opening of the terminal for commercial use will thereafter be decided.

This project was believed to have cost 475 crores in total. The airport will contain 72 check-in desks, 10 boarding bridges, and an in-line baggage handling system, among other amenities. Also, there will be shops that sell goods like food and drinks.
