In South Bombay, between Marine Drive and Worli, there is a 10.5km stretch that makes up the first phase of the Mumbai Coastal Road project.
According to estimates, the project, which is being built by the BMC, would cost a total of INR 12,721 crore.
Moreover, reclamation work is 93% complete, retaining walls are 79% complete, interchanges are 36% complete, and bridges are 32% complete.

According to BMC, the coastal route would reduce noise and air pollution while lowering travel time between Marine Lines in South Bombay and Kandivali in North Mumbai by 70% and fuel usage by 34%. Yet there has been no official announcement about the start of the second phase of the Mumbai Coastal Road.
To those who are unaware, the project started in October 2018. 111 hectares of land have been restored in total.
