"What you don't know is that our turntable started spinning backwards as soon as the curtain opened and it was time to perform," one of the dancers, Brandon Mathis, said in an Instagram story. “Backwards. There was nothing we could do to stop it from freaking out the entire audience on live television. We had to troubleshoot in real time and attempt to complete the piece backwards. Discuss professionalism.

Dexter, a different dancer, claimed that Harry and his group spent 10 days perfecting the choreography before the Grammys. Styles' performance was criticized online for being "boring" and "lethargic," but Dexter defended it by claiming that the dancers had to make the best of the situation and immediately reverse their whole routine.

Dexter said in a TikTok video, "Harry did such a terrific job integrating into it. We practised for 10 days getting down these beautiful patterns and sliding down the table in a roll-off and just producing this incredible, morphing, cool creative crap." "We practised it while the turntable was spinning anticlockwise the entire time. Making those patterns when something is moving and having all this spatial awareness was challenging and irritating. It looked beautiful and was wonderful during the dress rehearsal. The turntable starts spinning the incorrect direction as soon as we get onto the stage for the performance.
