Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap calls Gali Guleiyan as Manoj Bajpayee's best performance yet!

Manoj Bajpayee recently announced the OTT release of his 2018 film Gali Guleiyan. Since then, this film went viral, with hoards of viewers calling it his best performance. The film fraternity also lauded the film, with veteran filmmakers like Shekhar Kapur praising the film. In a rare occurrence, this film also started trending on Amazon Prime due to the exuberant chatter around the film 4 years after its theatrical release. The film is gathering excellent viewership numbers on Amazon Prime; it has already crossed 2.3 crore minutes in views and is expected to reach around 30 crore minutes in the coming months.

The film recently got another admirer, renowned writer and director Anurag Kashyap is all praises for Manoj Bajpayee in Gali Guleiyan; he posted on his Twitter & Instagram that this is Manoj Bajpayee's best performance yet!

These praises coming from Anurag Kashyap are special! Anurag Kashyap and Manoj Bajpayee's association goes long back to the start of their careers. Anurag's first film as a writer, Satya, was also Manoj's first major break in the films as an actor. Satya was a big success for both of them and became their first cult film together. Satya also bagged the first national award for Manoj for a supporting role. This was followed by another critically acclaimed film, Shool, in which both worked together and were a major success.

They teamed up together to work in one the most successful franchise of cult films, "Gangs of Wasseypur", regarded among the best cult films in India. Having such a long history of working together & an impressive list of films between them, & moreover, they have seen each other's career trajectory very closely. Therefore, Anurag Kashyap's comment on Gali Guleiyan is no small statement; it implies Gali Guleiyan has surpassed all his previous performances!

On the day of release, Manoj Bajpayee wrote a heartfelt note stating that this was one of his most challenging roles as an actor, and it almost pushed him to lose his mental stability.

This film has many more interesting, not widely known facts; Written, directed & produced by Dipesh Jain, Director's Guild Of America (DGA) Student Award recipient and a graduate of the University of Southern California Film School. Gali Guleiyan is Dipesh Jain's first major feature film, and getting Manoj Bajpayee to act in his movie was no small feat.

Very few people know that some of the world's best technicians have been part of the Gali Guleiyan film. Technicians who have worked on Hollywood movies & series like Lord of The Rings, Justice League, Ant-man, Spiderman, House of Cards etc., were a part of this film.
