Doctor G directed by Anubhuti Kashyap and written by Saurabh Bharat starring Ayushmann Khuranna, Rakul Preet, Shefali Shah , Sheeba Chaddha is an unique story with the complexities of society in a simple storytelling format.
The story revolves around Uday who wants to do orthopaedics but to save his career he ends up in Gynaecology. The issue starts when he faces the pressure of being a man in the department where females are dominating and preferred by the society.
Ayushmann as Uday plays a simple boy but he is a representation of all the problematic beliefs our society has. He plays his character so well that his transition from the problematic Uday to mature one is smooth and flawless. Ayushmann is master of making varied shade characters look effortlessly easy on screen.
Sheeba Chaddha is the star, the actress has totally mesmerised with her performance on screen, adorable character and stupendous performance.
Shefali Shah leaves us speechless everytime, she has such great control on her expressions and her body language, that most of her performance is delight to watch even when she has no dialogues.
The music is average, the cinematography could have been better. There were scenes which could have been easily avoided. The easiness of the light hearted dialogues were needed for showcasing the sensitive issue of the difference in gender roles in our society.
The good part is the movie is not preachy, instead it just tells you the story and Uday’s journey, which is quite good.
The story is a bold attempt and it brings a different side of the story where a man in our society is in minority and females arent and to watch that with great laughter combined with good performance is a treat.
