This Contestant From 'Shark tank India' is grateful to Ashneer Grover. Here's why!
Remember Rakhi Pal, who would lie to her family about going to college to follow her dreams and work on her business idea? When she would go to her office, she would wake up early to complete household work like cooking, washing and cleaning.
After two years, she finally told her family she was working on her business. This is when they disowned her.
Rakhi Pal comes from an orthodox family who wouldn't let her work. She came on Shark Tank India along with her co-founders of EventBeep, a student community startup that received investments from Ashneer Grover, Aman Gupta and Peyush Bansal on Shark Tank India.
Not just that, hearing her story, all contestants got emotional including Ashneer Grover, who invested Rs 10 lakh to buy a stake in Rakhi's shares, so that this money goes just to Rakhi. He then offered Rakhi the opportunity to buy back the shares at the same price.
However, not all Shark Tank India contestants have had favourable experiences with Grover. The Shark was not known for mincing his words, and as such, ended up setting off some of the pitchers who didn’t manage to seal a deal at the show.
Notable among them are Sippline “glass ka mask" creator Rohit Warrier and Twee in One creator Niti Singhal who specialises in making reversible and convertible clothing.
They received major snubs from Grover on the show and have since then, taken a few digs at the Shark Tank India judges themselves. Warrier and Singhal recently met up and yet again harked back to the Shark Tank days.
