Royal Challengers Bangalore registered their first of Tata IPL 2022 against Kolkata Knight Riders by 3 Wickets.
In the 6th match of the edition Royal Challengers Bangalore have registered their first win while Kolkata Knight Riders have faced their first defeat under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy by very close margin of 3 wickets.
In the extreme bowling conditions & dew both the teams faced levelled bowling performances. Kolkata Knight Riders got all-out on 128 runs with the likes of Wanindu Hasaranga taking 4 wickets in 4 overs sparing 20 runs. Akash Deep on the other hand took 3 wickets while Harshal Patel took 2 wickets while giving only 11 runs in 4 overs.
On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore did well in chasing the small target, though the top order completely collapsed during the initial phase. Middle order batsmen David Willey and Sherfane Rutherford along with Shahbaz Ahmed played well and took the team to the successful chase.
“Very happy. Close small margins game is very important at the start. Small score, we just tried to be positive but very good bowling from their seamers. The ball swung a little earlier but today there was seam and bounce. Two three days ago, it was 200 and today it was 130. We would like to be more convincing. Just the experience. The runs were never a problem. We just needed to have wickets in hand. DK is as close as it gets to MS Dhoni when it comes to being ice cool,” Faf Du Plessis said.
