The 94th Academy Awards recently took place at the Dolby on Sunday, Will Smith punches Chris Rock on stage adding more controversies to this year's Oscars. Here are overall highlights below:
- CODA is the best picture of the year. Siân Heder won the Best Adapted Screenplay (writing) for 'CODA'. It was her first Oscars win.
- Netflix drama The Power of The Dog fetched the Best Director award for Jane Campion.
- Will Smith goes up to the stage and punches Chris Rock for joking about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. He also won the Best Actor award for his performance in the movie King Richard.
- Al Pacino, Francis Fors Coppola, and Robert De Niro celebrated the 50th anniversary of ‘The Godfather’ on stage.
- BTS shares a special video message for the fans and everyone present at the 94th Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.

'Dune' has already won awards in 'Best Film Editing', 'Best Score', 'Best Sound', and 'Best Production Design' so far. The film has been nominated in 10 categories at the Oscars 2022.
- Troy Kotsur ('CODA') won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor by beating Ciarán Hinds ('Belfast'), Jesse Plemons ('The Power of the Dog'), J.K. Simmons ('Being the Ricardos'), and Kodi Smit-Mcphee ('The power of the dog'). "Amazing to be here. Can't believe I am here," Kotsur signed, "Thanks for recognizing my work. It is amazing to see 'CODA' reach worldwide, including the White House."
- Beyonce Knowles and Billie Eilish have grabbed their debut nominations this year in the Best Original Song category and both of them are set for scintillating performances on the stage. Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell bag the Best Original Song for the film ''No Time To Die'. This is their first Oscar award.
- 'Summer of Soul (...or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)' won the Best Documentary Feature Award.
- Kenneth Branagh won his first Oscar for Best Writing (Original screenplay) for the film 'Belfast' based on the Irish turbulence in the late '60s. 'Belfast' - which also stars Judi Dench - is a semi-autobiographical film tracing the life of a working-class family and their young son's childhood during the period.
- Jenny Beavan bagged the Oscars for Best Costume Design for film 'Cruella'. This is her 3rd Oscar award, 11 nominations.
- 'Encanto', a film about a magical family in the mountains of Colombia, bagged the Oscars for Best Animated Feature. It won critical acclaim for representing Hispanic culture accurately. Other contenders in this category included 'Flee', 'Luca' and 'The Mitchells vs. The Machines'.
- DeBose makes history her breakthrough role in the Steven Spielberg reimagining of the classic musical. She becomes the first Afro-Latina and openly LGBTQ actor to win in the category.
- Ariana DeBose won the Best Actress in a supporting role for 'West Side Story. This is her first Oscar award and also her first nomination.
- Lady Gaga's Best Actress' nomination for 'House of Gucci', but she attended the Elton John Aids Foundation Academy Awards viewing party. She also posed with her godchildren (Elton John’s sons), and David Furnish.
- 'The Queen of Basketball' bagged the 'Best Short Documentary Film'. 'The Long Goodbye' also won, which is a blistering fictional short starring Riz Ahmed, as did 'The Windshield Wiper' for best animated short.
Denis Villeneuve's 'Dune' led in most categories at the Oscars. It biggest blockbusters of this year's 10 best-picture nominees, the film amazingly won a leading six awards, for production design, cinematography, editing, visual effects, sound, and Hans Zimmer's score.
