'The Kashmir files' WhatsApp Fraud : Noida Police Warns Against Fake Links Circulating on WhatsApp
The Kashmir Files‘ movie is being much-talked about. Cybercriminals too seem to have found an opportunity to dupe gullible smartphone users using the movie’s name. Ranvijay Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Noida, has warned mobile users about WhatsApp fraud related to ‘The Kashmir Files‘ movie.
He has asked users not to click on any links received on WhatsApp related to the movie unless they are sure about its authenticity.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Ranvijay Singh said that the police have received inputs. Cybercriminals can send such malware on WhatsApp after sharing a link to the movie The Kashmir Files.
Within 24 hours, complaints of fraud worth Rs 30 lakh have been registered from just one police station. "Such situations can happen," he said. In which a phone user does not know that their device has been hacked from a remote location. They are concerned only when they come to know that their bank accounts have been emptied.
Gautam Buddh Nagar Cyber Cell Officer Baljit Singh has asked people to immediately use the Cyber Helpline 1930 in case of any online fraud or problem. Let us tell you that after complaints came to Delhi Police, Noida Police has issued an advisory. The police have asked the public to be alert.
