In 2007 Shilpa Shetty got into trouble when Hollywood actor Richard Gere publicly hugged and kissed her. After many protests in many cities like Delhi, Kanpur, Bhopal and Varanasi, the arrest warrant was issued against Shilpa Shetty and Richard Gere.

The warrant was issued under the IPC sanctions 292, 293 and 294 and some sections of the IT act and Indecent Representation of Women Act. Nevertheless, later two-judge bench of the Supreme Court withdrew the arrest warrant.

The original complaint was filed in Rajasthan where the incident took place but accused Shilpa Shetty requested a petition to transfer her case to Mumbai. After a decade of the incident, in 2017 Supreme Court permitted authorization to Shilpa Shetty's plea.

Today Shilpa Shetty got free from the case as Metropolitan judge Ketaki Chavan has claimed that the actress Shilpa Shetty cleared her stance right after the incident.

Also now the magistrate is convinced that the allegations against Shilpa Shetty are baseless and thus the court then released Shilpa Shetty from the case.

The order observes, "Not a single element of any of the alleged offense is being satisfied in the complaint. Moreover, none of the papers annexed with the final reports discloses act of present accused to bring her within the purview of section 34 of IPC (common intention)".

On the professional front, Shilpa Shetty is currently on the judging panel of the Indian reality show India's Got Talent with Kirron Kher, Badshah and Manoj.
