The Central Government has said that the third dose booster will not be anything different , it will be the same vaccine people have got for the first and second dose .

This third vaccine are not compulsory and are not supposed to be given to children, and common people, then the question will arise in your mind that for which types of people other than front line workers will this booster dose be for , the answer is below .

The booster dose is an extra precautionary dose made for those people who have high chances of getting corona . This is the reason why they will be given to health workers, front line workers and immuno comprised seniors .

This dose of booster will be starting from today as covid number spikes in the country driven by Omicron. About 5.75 crore people are eligible for the third doses in the ongoing drive -- 2.75 crore above the age of 60, 1 crore healthcare workers and 2 crore frontline workers.

The health ministry has said there is no need to register for the precautionary vaccine doses. Those eligible can directly take an appointment or walk into any vaccination centre.

There is no decision yet on booster doses for all adults.Those eligible for booster shots will, however, get them only 9 months after receiving the second dose of the Covid vaccine.

Those above the age of 60 years who have co-morbidities like diabetes, hypertension and other chronic ailments have the option of getting the "Precaution Dose" on the advice of their doctor.

A study from the UK has found that a third dose of vaccine can provide up to 88 per cent protection against hospitalisation from infection by the Omicron variant.
