Ayushmann Khurrana is enjoying great positive reviews and mouth publicity for his film ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’. Ayushmann is also the highest risk-taking actor ever in the Indian film industry. He has been proving this thing with his character in different films. Ayushmann, a man suffering from erectile dysfunction in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, a sperm donor in Vicky Donor, a bald man in Bala, an openly gay man in Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and now a man falling in love with a trans-woman in Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui Don’t shy away from playing the character. Ayushmann says he never picked a script thinking how much it would earn at the box office.
Ayushmann Khurrana says, “Since my debut in Vicky Donor, I have chosen films that have been considered socially unconventional or taboo. I think it is necessary to make such films in India. I have felt the need to initiate discussion on the important topics which need attention. Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui is one such film in my filmography and I am extremely proud of it. I am lucky to have found a creative partner in Abhishek Kapoor. Abhishek also believes that there is a need to bring to light the issues affecting the transgender community in India. It was our attempt to make this conversation relevant and mainstream and I hope this film will do the same in the days to come.
Ayushmann, named one of the ‘Most Influential People in the World’ by Time magazine, says, ‘I have never done a film keeping my box office profits in mind. I have not been cast that way and I don’t think people expect any easy character from me. Therefore, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui is one of the riskiest films I have ever done and I will continue to take the risk whatever the film does at the box office because as a human being I am also like that.
Instead of banging his head wondering how the film will perform at the box office counter, Ayushmann will choose to stir up his nationwide debate through his leak-breaking films. He says, ‘If I can start a conversation towards bettering the society, I would love to hear my heart’s voice without thinking about the consequences. I have chosen films after listening to the voice of my heart and will continue to do so. I am an entertainer and will try to engage people with my kind of cinema. I don’t see myself changing for anything.
