Nora Fatehi got a chance to live her childhood fantasy. The dancer-actress, who was mesmerised by mermaids as a kid, got to turn into one for her next music video. “If there’s something creative and out-of-the-box, then I get very excited and I am always on board. So, when a concept like this came to me, which required me to portray a mermaid, I grabbed it,” says Nora. The actress-dancer adds, “I think mermaids are so mystical. As a kid, I used to watch a lot of cartoons and draw mermaids. I would be fascinated with the way they moved in the water. They are so stunning and feminine.”
As much as she dreamt of being one as a child, Nora realised that playing one on screen was tough. “As soon as I put on that outfit, I realised that it looks beautiful, but it was extremely difficult to handle,” says Nora, who would require around two hours to slip into the costume.
Created in the US for over three months, the ensemble is made using latex and silicon, and a special adhesive had to be used every time she got into it. The outfit weighed over 15 kilos, and it was a challenge to shoot with it, especially the scenes in which she had to be in the water. Nora says, “I had to look beautiful and glamourous while facing the camera, but it was tough to shoot like that. I would be in pain and cry for help.
Once in the costume, there was no way I could move by myself. So, they would move me in and out of the set on a stretcher.”
Talking about the video directed by Bosco Martis, Nora says, “The visuals in this song will leave you stunned. We have introduced a new dance style here. The music is also very different. I am looking forward to this one.”
