Sivasagar SP said that Wazid Hussain a resident of Sivasagar district who worked as a domestic helper has done the crime and has been arrested.

He said Hussain was in Dubai in 2016.Mahanta said in a tweet Hussain had stolen the watch and flew to Assam and today at morning 4 AM we arrested him and this successful work done by Indian police along with cooperation from Dubai police.

Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sharma said that "In act of international cooperation Assam police has caught a criminal with the cooperation of Dubai police and recovered a heritage watch which belonged to Maradona the football legend.

"It was a Special watch as it was of Maradona , made specially for him and it's price was around 15 lakh rupees. A similar watch is available in market but it's not limited edition like this.
