Netflix introduced us to Shruti from Decoupled, and Surveen Chawla loves her just as much as us

Netflix recently dropped the trailer for it’s upcoming series Decoupled starring Surveen Chawla and R Madhavan as Arya Iyer and Shruti, a couple who can’t get enough (of fighting with) each other! While Arya Iyer, canvassed by R Madhavan is a popular pulp fiction writer who speaks his mind with a side of fluent sarcasm, his better half Shruti, portrayed by Surveen Chawla is a stunning, successful and slightly stubborn startup CEO. Decoupled is a dramedy that gives a hilarious look into the life of Arya and Shruti.

While opening up about her Decoupled journey, Surveen Chawla gushed about her character. Talking about why she loved playing Shruti, Surveen said, “ A great mom, and a determined, hardworking, and intelligent woman, Shruti is such a fascinating character. She has the humor and honesty to handle Arya's absurdities in a manner which is very true to her own identity. The dynamic with Arya might have changed over the course of their marriage but despite that she displays no spite, animosity or vengefulness towards him.I relate to Shruti a lot in this aspect since she's an incredibly independent woman. Parenting is also her own sphere. She does not blend into the crowd of fellow mothers - she does it in her own way. I identify with most of those traits, which made the adaptation of some of Shruti's mannerisms very easy. A dramedy about modernity, individuality, ethnicity, and marital relationships. She's a boss woman, a wife and mother, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing her."

Decoupled is the hilarious tale of how Arya and his smart techie wife Shruti navigate through a failing marriage and all the sarcasm, ego and witty quips that follow.
