After giving a solid hit in 2019 with Luka Chuppi, Kartik Aaryan was back with a remake of B.R Chopra’s 1978 classic and is in safe hands as audiences have loved the trailer of Pati Patni Aur Woh. Looking from the trailer of Pati Patni Aur Woh, the comedy-drama had generated curiosity among the audience as it is coming at the right time. The songs have created quite a buzz while the team is travelling places for aggressive promotions. Kartik Aaryan had already his highest opening film with Luka Chuppi (Rs 8.01 crore). Pati Patni Aur Woh clashed with Panipat but with solid word-of-mouth reviews, the comedy drama opened with Rs 9.10 crore and collected a handsome amount of Rs 84.56 crore at the end of theater run.

Panipat was a crucial film for three people – Ashutosh Gowarikar who has to prove himself after the disastrous Mohenjodaro at the box office (though he is a brilliant director giving us beautiful films like Lagaan, Swades and Jodha Akbar), Arjun Kapoor needed to deliver hit after giving flops like Namaste England and India’s Most Wanted and Sanjay Dutt who has not been able to make a successful comeback after forgettable Bhoomi, Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster 3 and Prassthanam.

Based on the third and last battle of Panipat between the Maratha warriors and Afghan King Ahmad Shah Abdali, the trailer of Panipat was promising . However, the clash with Pati Patni Aur Woh and disappointing songs hurt the collection at the ticket window which opened with Rs 4.12 crore and ended with Rs 33.87 crore against a budget of Rs 80 crore.
