Chhorii is the official remake of Marathi film, Lapachapi directed by Vishal Furia. The horror drama features Nushrratt Bharuccha, Saurabh Goyal, Mita Vashisht and Rajesh Jais, released on the OTT Platform on November 26.
EXCLUISVE INTERVIEW with Vishal Furia:
Do you think reopening of theaters and big films would affect OTT platform?
See, taking time out to go in theaters is like an appointment, you have to make it through the busy schedules, find some time, go to theaters and then you watch those films and then if the god forbid if those films are bad, you only curse yourself. It won’t affect OTT they both are here to co-exist. For now, it’s safer to watch films on OTT staying in your homes at your comfort level.
You’ve done the Original Marathi movie and now Chhorii is the remake of that movie; what’s this connection with horror genre and you.
Horror genre haven’t done justice in our industry yet so I thought why not make a pure horror genre without comedy or sex or songs; just a pure horror story. I strongly believe India does have a horror loving audience but we’ve not offered right kind of content to them and that’s what I’m trying to do.

What’s your all-time favourite horror movie and why?
My favourite horror movie is ‘The Shining,’ the film depicts many things including fear, each department of the film is a case study, they way it’s written, directed and designed it’s amazing and inspiring film for me.
What’s that special thing would you mention to audience to get amazon prime subscription to watch this film?
It offers more than just horror, the original also did that and this film also carries that sole forward. And it’s designed for a bigger audience, if you watch it with an open mind, you would definitely get satisfaction at the end. It will leave you with something just profound than horror.
Recently many big Bollywood movies went under piracy attacks, what’s your viewpoint on this, do you think we need more strict law enforcement against piracy?
It takes a lot to make a film, from story, screenplay, production, filming, editing, sound and music. There are so many people linked with it and their bread and butter is depend on it. Piracy not at all encourage filmmakers as it directly affects their revenue. And to the viewers, it’s their job to not watch pirated movies, I completely ridicule piracy, put some money in subscription and enjoy the show.
