Director Aanand L Rai announced Tuesday that his film "Atrangi Re" is headed for a direct release on the streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar. The romantic-musical drama, written by Rai's long-time collaborator Himanshu Sharma, stars Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan in the lead.
Akshay Kumar features in a special role.The filmmaker took to social media to share that the trailer of the film will be out on Wednesday on Disney+ Hotstar. He also shared the first look of his lead characters.
"Stay tuned for the trailer of #AtrangiRe tomorrow on @DisneyPlusHS #DisneyPlusHotstarMultiplex," Rai, who last helmed Shah Rukh Khan's 2018 "Zero", wrote. Atrangi Re, directed by Aanand L Rai, is a cross-cultural love story.
It features Sara Ali Khan in a double role. She will be seen romancing Dhanush as well as Akshay in the film. Atrangi Re was scheduled to release on Valentine's Day this year, but, as the shoot was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the film's release date also got postponed. Now, it is all set to release on Disney+Hotstar.
