It wouldn’t be faulty to term Tanishk Bagchi the king of chartbusters. The hitmaker has been on a roll lately. After reigning the music charts for close to three months, he has achieved the rare feat of toppling one of his most popular numbers with another. Ever since his original love track Raataan Lambiyan from Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani starrer Shershaah released on July 30, the song made its way to people’s hearts. The song was the number one track ever since till this week when Bagchi’s recreated version of the 90s hit song Tip Tip Barsa Paani from Sooryavanshi starring Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar got the audience swooning to the classic all over again. Bagchi gave a fresh take to what’s deemed one of the most memorable songs of the era, taking all of us on a wonderful nostalgic trip down the memory lane. It's no surprise that both tracks come from the coveted Dharma stable. It's no secret that producer Karan Johar is known to have a keen sense of music and Bagchi believes it's Johar's faith in him that's helped him create two beautiful ditties.
Overwhelmed with the heartening response, he tells us, “The skill set to create an original number is drastically different from recreating a hit song like Tip Tip Barsa. It’s a sheer stroke of luck that things have worked out in such a way that these songs have been released in a matter of a few months. I am so grateful that I found a sounding board like Karan Johar, who encourages his composers to bring out their best. At Dharma, there are bright creative minds like Azeem Dayani, who elevate every piece of music with his sharp sense. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of working on both songs but I have to admit, the pressure was much higher in Tip Tip Barsa. When you are remaking an iconic song like that, there’s no scope to go wrong. I gave my best shot and it’s so wonderful to see people appreciating the track. I am so thankful to Rohit Shetty and Karan, both of whom were such steadfast supporters. A whole new generation has discovered the song and it will be cherished for years to come. The idea was to doff our hats to the most heard song from our childhood and I am glad we did it successfully.”
Talking about him, Karan says, “Tanishk is a musical force to reckon with it. He has a unique talent of blending superlatives melodies with commercial prerequisites, to say that he has a pulse on the music market would be stating the obvious. Dharma Productions have been proud to associate for many years with Tanishk and we hope to continue churning chartbusters together.”
Riding high on the success, Bagchi has established his musical prowess as a composer who is able to belt out a classic love ballad like Raataan Lambiyaan and top up his own success by bringing his own to one of Hindi cinema’s most landmark songs - Tip Tip Barsa. Recreated by Bagchi, the original track was written by Anand Bakshi, composed by Viju Shah and sung by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik. To his credit, Bagchi in his rendition has retained all the elements of the original and has merely given a fresh spin to it. Within two days since it dropped online, music enthusiasts have the track on loop already!
