Saawariya (2007)

Sooryavanshi 1st Monday Box Office – Crosses 90 Crore

Hailing from a family of films, Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor already had high expectations from Kapoor khandaan and especially from his parents – Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. Though Ranbir and Sonam always had an advantage of being a star kid but at the same time both had to deal with pressure of matching up to his parent’s acting caliber. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Saawariya was pitted against Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Om Shanti Om and turned into box office disaster due to weak direction, poor screenplay and even more poorer editing. Saawariya collected Rs 20 crore against a budget of Rs 45 crore at the box office.
