Om Shanti Om (2007)
The second collaboration between Farah Khan and Shah Rukh Khan after a solid hit, Main Hoo Na, Om Shanti Om was probably one of the biggest hit of 2007. Audience loved the pairing of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, solid entertainment by Farah Khan and the foot-tapping music by Vishal Shekhar spelled the magic at the box office. Hailing from a family of films, Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor already had high expectations from Kapoor khandaan and especially from his parents – Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. Though Ranbir and Sonam always had an advantage of being a star kid but at the same time both had to deal with pressure of matching up to his parent’s acting caliber. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Saawariya was pitted against Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Om Shanti Om and turned into box office disaster due to weak direction, poor screenplay and even more poorer editing. Saawariya collected Rs 20 crore against a budget of Rs 45 crore at the box office.
