Clubhouse to soon let users pin links to the top of rooms!
Clubhouse allows users to monetize their work on the platform by allowing them to share external links. Clubhouse CEO Paul Davison and global head of marketing Maya Watson announced a new pinned links feature today at The Verge's On The Verge event, which allows moderators to pin outside links to the top of a room. Listeners can be directed to whatever the moderators want, such as a Patreon page, a news article, or a podcast, using these links.
For security and moderation reasons, certain links will not be permitted. Davison did not specify the types of links that would be prohibited, but he implied that links to OnlyFans would be prohibited because porn links are prohibited. Anyone can add, change, or remove a link as long as they're a room moderator and have a certain number of followers.
Clubhouse said on its official page that Pinned links will go live on Wednesday, Oct 27 on both iOS and Android — joining a host of new features they have announced these past few weeks to help users start rooms with friends, plan events and 1:1s, search for rooms, share clips, make great-sounding music, and share Replays of their content far and wide. “We hope these features make your Clubhouse experience better and better, and we plan to stay heads down shipping more of them for you each week” Clubhouse added.
Although Davison said the team would likely share news in the coming months about ways in which the app itself will monetize, such as through ticketed rooms and subscriptions, Clubhouse will not take a cut of revenue from any transactions that occur through the link.
