Hansal Mehta who is a filmmaker opened up on October 14 about the necessity to decriminalise marijuana consumption in India. He also appealed to change the laws related to marijuana use in India. Various other celebrities comprising Swara Bhasker and Rahul Dholakia also expressed their thoughts regarding the same through social media.

He took to his twitter handle the issue of descriminalisation of marijuana consumption in India he wrote “Marijuana/cannabis consumption is legal in many countries. It has been decriminalised in many. In our country, its consumption is used more for harassment than for narcotics control. A movement like the one to abolish sec 377 is necessary to end this continuing travesty (sic),”

Hansal Mehta, who is known for making films like Scam 1992 says as marijuana consumption is legal in many countries but it has been decriminalised in many. While in our country Its consumption is used in terms of harassment or for narcotics control. It should be abolished under sec 377 it should be ended. On one of his tweets Pooja Bhatt reacted saying, “And then we can be sure they will find yet another travesty (sic).”

The post was tweeted soon after the Mumbai court judge reserved his order against Aryan Khan's bail plea.Aryan Khan will be in jail till October 20.Prior to this he had also tweeted a tweet in support of Shah Rukh Khan's son. The tweet read “It is painful for a parent having to deal with a child getting into trouble. It gets compounded when people begin to arrive at judgements before the law takes its course. It is disrespectful and unfair to the parent and to the parent-child relationship. With you @iamsrk (sic),”

While Swara Bhasker wrote, “#AryanKhan #AryanKhanBail Pure harassment (sic),” Rahul Dholakia said, “I respect and support people doing their job, unfortunately this is not seeming to be about that. Disappointed with the decision of extending Aryan’s jail time. #AryanKhanBail (sic).”
