Tarun Tahiliani Opens FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week with the Concept of Sustainable Living

Designer Tarun Tahiliani, who opened the FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week with a digital preview of his latest bridal collection, said the pandemic-induced lockdown made both the creators and the buyers understand the need for sustainable living. He firmly believes in sustainability and the notion of "30-kilo bridal wear must change". The designer also quoted to PTI, "Rather than selecting an entire outfit, people have become keener towards buying specific pieces with greater wearability which can be donned in numerous ways and paired with different garments. We need to support the idea of buying less and in turn buying pieces that have a story attached and if these stories are followed through then it would help the planet as it is all one big ecosystem tied together".

His opening collection was named "The Reunion" for Autumn/Winter 2021 for FDCI X LFW. His collection was made with the concept of people rethinking the concept of buying clothes in bulks and later not using them.

The designer is also known for dressing up celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Madhuri Dixit, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja. While reinvention is a constant process, the pandemic gave him time to execute ideas that have been with him for years.
