On the Occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the largest National Flag made of khadi is unveiled in Leh.

This grand ceremony was held to celebrate the 152nd birth anniversary of mahatma gandhi along with azadi ka amrit mahotsav celebrating 75 th anniversary of india's independence.

A 1000 kg flag which measures 225 feet by 150 feet made up of khadi was manufactured in Mumbai and taken to Leh.

The flag is made by khadi dyers and printers based in Mumbai which is connected to the khadi village and industries collection.

Fire and fury cops organised this one in a lifetime event where the national flag was planted by lieutenant governor RK Mathur or hill feature overlooking the Leh valley .

The responsibility of bringing the flag from Mumbai to Leh was given to Sura soi engineer regiment.

The chief guest initated the gathering of around 500 people which included personnel of the Indian army, indian air force, Indo Tibetan force , school children and etc.
